A Message from Chris
In order to further acquaint you with me on a more personal level, here is some further information that may be useful:
I was born in Philadelphia and my family moved to Scranton soon afterward. I am the oldest son of Christopher T. Powell Sr., founder of the present-day Powell Law, and Ann Marie Powell. I grew up in the Minooka section of Scranton, Pa., and attended SouthScrantonCentralCatholicHigh School. After graduating in 1971, I furthered my education at Villanova, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975. I then went to LoyolaUniversity in New Orleans where I received my Juris Doctorate in 1978.
My wife, Amy, and I have two children. I have been active politically with the Democratic Party in the down-valley area of Lackawanna County, Pa., and am often consulted about political matters in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area.
In 1991, I became a licensed private pilot and own my own airplane. Because of this, I travel extensively for business and pleasure. I have had the privilege of flying along the Eastern seaboard, as far west as Green Bay, Wis., and south as far as New Orleans, La. I have also flown many political candidates across Pennsylvania on campaign trips.
Through my flying experience, I have become a volunteer for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association support network for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Airport, and in that capacity have been involved in several legal actions before the Federal Aviation Administration.
In addition to being an owner/pilot and a volunteer advocate on behalf of pilots, I am interested in legal ethics, and have tried cases before the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Because I believe that education is a lifelong pursuit, I am an avid reader of matters concerning the law, history and aviation.
