Lackawanna County Commissioner A.J. Munchak said Friday he wants to be tried separately from former commissioner Bob Cordaro in a federal corruption case.
Munchak’s attorney, Christopher Powell, said his client may not get a fair trial if he is forced to stand trial with Cordaro.
The two are accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from companies that did business with the county.
Munchaks’ attorneys said their defense will be seriously compromised if Munchak is forced to stand trial with Cordaro.
