Attorney Mark J. Powell of Scranton recently served as an instructor for the Advanced Trial Skills seminar sponsored by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy at the U.S. District Courthouse in Washington, D.C.
Powell, a partner in the Scranton-based Powell Law firm, has served as an instructor at NITA seminars in Washington, D.C., each year since 2004. He earned his juris doctorate from Catholic University Law School and a Master of Laws degree from Temple University Law School. He is one of the only attorneys in the region to hold dual certifications as a Civil Trial Specialist and Criminal Trial Specialist from the National Board of Trial Advocacy. His practice encompasses a wide range of personal injury and criminal matters.
Powell is past President of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers and a recipient of its Lawrence W. Roth Award; member of the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice; member of the American Association for Justice and National Trial Lawyers Association; member of the Lackawanna Bar Association, where he served as co-chair of the annual Bench Bar Conference; and a past senior hearing committee member for the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board.
