Attorney James F. Mundy, a partner in Powell Law, was recently honored by the Pennsylvania Association for Justice with its Distinguished Service Award for his leadership in helping to shape state auto insurance law and preserve the rights of injured motorists.
For decades, Mundy has been a tireless advocate for the rights of injured people, helping to shape laws at both the state and federal levels. Among his many legislative accomplishments, he is credited with helping to create Pennsylvania’s no-fault insurance law and enact a minor’s tolling statute, which preserves a child’s right to redress for personal injuries. The Pennsylvania Report has identified Mundy as one of the 50 most influential people in Pennsylvania public affairs, and his outstanding service has earned him the prestigious Justice Michael A. Musmanno Memorial Award from the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
Mundy is a past president of PAJ, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. Widely regarded as one of the best personal injury attorneys in the country, he has won some of the largest verdicts and settlements in state history in serious injury cases involving medical malpractice, wrongful death, product liability, drugs and medical devices.
In addition to PAJ and the PBA, Mundy is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the American Bar Association. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of both the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has received the highest rating for legal ability and ethics by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a past Chairman of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and has served on the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Board and the Interest on Lawyer’s Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Board. He has written and lectured extensively on litigation issues.
