The parents of a Moscow man who was struck and killed by a drunken driver filed a lawsuit against the driver and the bar that served her.
Daniel and Karen Gregorsky, 19 Laurel Road, Spring Brook Twp., filed suit against April Lyn Porreca of Greentown and the R-Place Bar and Grill in Salem Twp. for the June 24 death of their son, Daniel Gregorsky Jr., 35.
Gregorsky was walking along Spudeno Road in Salem Twp. when he was struck by a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Porreca, who fled the scene. Police later identified her as the driver after reviewing security tapes and obtaining information from a bar employee.
Porreca, 32, pleaded guilty in January in Wayne County court to driving under the influence of alcohol and involuntary manslaughter. She was sentenced last week to serve up to five years in Wayne County Correctional Facility.
The lawsuit, filed in Lackawanna County court by Scranton attorney Bruce Zero, alleges employees of the bar continued to serve alcohol to Gregorsky and Porreca, even though they were both visibly intoxicated. It seeks damages on several counts, including negligence, wrongful death and punitive damages.
