In Pennsylvania, Workers’ Compensation gets a direct credit for any and all benefits Unemployment Compensation pays. So, by attempting to collect Unemployment Compensation, if you’ve been injured at work, gives your Workers’ Compensation insurance carrier a real benefit. They pay you less and you’ve used your Unemployment Compensation benefits that can be bankrolled until you absolutely need them. In Unemployment Compensation, you have to be available for work. And, oftentimes, with a work-related injury, you are restricted from doing work.
So, the bottom line is you should hold the Workers’ Compensation carrier responsible for the benefits if you’ve sustained a work-related accident that prevents you from working.
